The role holder will deliver and oversee a wide spectrum of steady-state, dynamic, and electromagnetic transient (EMT) studies to ensure reliable grid integration, stability, and compliance of renewable energy projects (solar PV, wind, BESS, and hybrids) in diverse grid conditions, including weak grids and high renewable penetration scenarios.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The position will report directly to the Business Vertical Lead \/ Director based in India. The successful candidate must possess deep expertise in industry-leading tools, advanced modelling of inverter-based resources, strong automation\/scripting capabilities, and thorough knowledge of national and international grid codes and standards.<br><strong>Roles &amp; Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Technical delivery and Expertise<\/strong><br>\u2022 Deliver high-quality steady-state and transient power system studies, including RMS and EMT (Electromagnetic Transient) modelling for renewable energy projects across feasibility, detailed design, grid connection, construction, and operational phases.<br>\u2022 Perform a comprehensive range of studies, including but not limited to:<br>o Load flow\/power flow analysis (normal and N-1\/N-2 contingency conditions)<br>o Short circuit\/fault level analysis (symmetrical and asymmetrical faults)<br>o Protection coordination and relay setting studies (overcurrent, distance, differential, directional, etc.)<br>o Arc flash hazard analysis and grounding\/earthing studies<br>o Power quality studies (harmonics distortion, voltage flicker, voltage fluctuations, THD assessment)<br>o Grid compliance and grid interconnection\/evacuation studies<br>o Contingency analysis (static and dynamic)<br>o Insulation coordination studies (switching and lightning  surges), Stability studies, including transient stability, dynamic stability, small-signal stability, and voltage stability<br>o Low Voltage Ride Through (LVRT), High Voltage Ride Through (HVRT), frequency ride-through, and active power recovery studies for renewable plants<br>o Cable ampacity, thermal rating, and reactive power compensation\/voltage control studies<br>o Sub-synchronous oscillations\/control interactions (SSO\/SSCI) studies where relevant<br>o Ramp rate control, frequency response, and inertial response studies for inverter-based resources<br>\u2022 Develop, validate, and maintain detailed dynamic and EMT models for Solar PV inverters, Wind Turbines, BESS (grid-forming and grid-following controls), collector systems, and hybrid configurations, particularly in weak-grid (low SCR) and high penetration scenarios.<br>\u2022 Conduct or support manual engineering calculations for short circuit levels, transformer sizing, protection schemes, grounding design, lightning protection, CT\/PT sizing, and reactive power requirements.<br>\u2022 Review, interpret, and validate vendor-supplied documents, protection schemes, equipment specifications, and control settings for inverters, transformers, BESS, wind turbines, and FACTS devices (SVC, STATCOM, etc.).<br>\u2022 Perform studies involving HVDC links and FACTS devices where integrated with renewable projects.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tools, Modelling &amp; Automation<\/strong><br>\u2022 Demonstrate advanced proficiency in modelling and simulating complex power systems using ETAP and DIgSILENT PowerFactory for steady-state, dynamic, and protection studies.<br>\u2022 Show strong hands-on expertise with PSS\/E (for dynamic and stability studies), PSCAD (for detailed EMT and transient studies), and EMTP (for insulation coordination and surge analysis).<br>\u2022 Utilize DSL (DIgSILENT Simulation Language) and Python scripting for automation of parametric studies, batch processing, sensitivity analysis, custom model development, result post-processing, and automated reporting.<br>\u2022 Update, maintain, and continuously improve study libraries, model templates, validation databases, and standard workflows in ETAP and DIgSILENT PowerFactory.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Compliance, Grid Codes &amp; Standards<\/strong><br>\u2022 Ensure all studies fully comply with relevant grid codes, including Indian regulations (CEA Technical Standards for Connectivity, CERC\/IEGC), Middle East and Africa grid codes, and international requirements (exposure to North America \u2013 NERC, IEEE 1547 \u2013 or Australia grid codes is an advantage).<br>\u2022 Apply in-depth knowledge of international standards such as IEC, IEEE (including IEEE 519 for harmonics and IEEE 1547 for interconnection), IS, NEC, and other applicable norms for power quality, protection, insulation, and ride-through capabilities.<br>\u2022 Demonstrate familiarity with harmonic measurements, relay settings, and advanced control interactions in modern inverter-dominated grids.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Quality Assurance &amp; Reporting<\/strong><br>\u2022 Prepare clear, detailed, and client-ready technical reports, simulation results, sensitivity analyses, executive summaries, and presentations for clients, lenders, utilities, and regulatory submissions.<br>\u2022 Contribute to internal QA\/QC processes, modelling guidelines, and validation protocols to maintain the highest standards of technical excellence and consistency.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Collaboration &amp; Knowledge Sharing<\/strong><br>\u2022 Collaborate closely with the head office electrical design, renewable engineering, due diligence, and advisory teams to deliver integrated, lifecycle solutions for renewable energy projects.<br>\u2022 Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers on modelling techniques, tool usage, automation, and grid code requirements.<br>\u2022 Contribute to thought leadership through technical blogs, whitepapers, internal knowledge-sharing sessions, and presentations on renewable grid integration and power system studies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Operational Responsibilities<\/strong><br>\u2022 Manage assigned project budgets, timelines, and deliverables effectively.<br>\u2022 Travel domestically and internationally (approximately 15\u201325% of time) for site visits, measurement campaigns, model validation, or client meetings as required.<br>\u2022 Support business development activities through technical inputs to proposals and client discussions.<br><strong>Qualifications, Experience and Skillset<\/strong><br>\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s or Master\u2019s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems \/ Power Electronics specialisation preferred)<br>\u2022 Minimum 7 to 10 years of progressive, hands-on experience in power system studies with a strong emphasis on renewable energy grid integration (solar PV, wind, BESS, and hybrids).<br>\u2022 In-depth technical expertise in steady-state, dynamic, and EMT analysis of inverter-based resources in modern power systems, especially weak grids and high renewable penetration scenarios.<br>\u2022 Strong analytical, problem-solving, and modelling capabilities.<br>\u2022 Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English essential) for producing high-quality technical documentation and presentations.
