Our client is a leading renewable energy consulting firm that has grown into a globally recognised technical advisory and engineering company supporting the world’s energy transition.
They are seeking to hire an Electrical Design Engineer to be based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and engineering of all the aspects of inverter stations, MV transformer stations, MV Switching stations, Utility metering systems, etc.
- To interpret specifications/ drawings and design for all technical aspects of creating complete, functional, and safe design related to cable layouts/ equipment layouts/ lighting/ earthing/ lightning layouts and elevations in CAD.
- Cable tray/ trench sizing, Design of cable routing layouts/ Trench & Tray routing layouts, underground raceways.
- Prepare a single-line diagram, schematic.
- Prepare Layouts for MCR (Main Control Room) and IS (Inverter Station).
- Cable sizing calculation, Control Cable sizing, length Calculations.
- Design of cable trenches and underground raceways analysis.
- Adding new features to the existing Auto CAD applications using plugins.
- Models/designs with a creative and problem-solving approach while adhering to applicable national and international codes & standards.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external partners, including interfaces with other departments, vendors, and clients.
- Maintain awareness of new product technology and communicate pertinent developments with colleagues.
- Develop and implement system processes and standard operating procedures.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) / Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Electrical / Electronics Engineering
- Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in either Solar PV Design, Substation or Power System Studies.
- Strong ability to work in AUTOCAD software required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks involving complex and varying problems.
- Knowledge in DC & AC side engineering specifications and standards, including IEC, NEC, IEEE, ANSI, SEC, IS, etc.
- Experience in a Consultancy / EPC background with exposure to utility-scale solar PV projects shall be desirable.
- Ability to prepare technical reports, documentation, and checklists as required.
- Flexibility to undertake site visits in India and abroad and willingness to travel and stay in India and abroad as required.
